Dad snowblowing.... thank goodness -- just in time for the next storm. I bet the deer are peering out of the woods thinking, THANKS MISTER, so they don't have to burrow down to get their food. When will this all stopppppp???????????????????????

The Solution?

I am thinking I might have found the answer!!! Obsessed with this book on Bikram Yoga that my friend Christine Holt loaned me. This could be the answer to rounding out life... If I can't find a studio, I'll just build a room in the basement with lots of mirrors that I can heat to 105 degrees! PSYCHED!

Pomegranate Collection

One of my goals for this weekend was to get the first draft of the Introduction to the soon to be self published book, Pomegranate Collection which is about the art collection at Pomegranate Inn. Always interesting how writing unfolds... needs a serious edit. AND I won't be done by this weekend.

Hungry Herd

Poor little guys are really hungry today after the storm. They keep coming back for seconds and thirds though and I don't know who is who. Ava is VERY entertained.

Spent quite a bit of the last two days researching the right way to launch a YouTube channel for The Swan Agency Sotheby's International Realty. Really want to showcase our great group of brokers as well as properties - don't want same old, same old. I am thinking more like our own version of HGTV's Selling New York. Stay tuned!

Dancing the night away with Arthur Fink & Karen Montanaro

Noted dance photographer Arthur Fink of Peaks Island hosted an opening reception for his photographic show currently on view at the lovely Danforth inn this evening. The party attracted a number of dance and art enthusiasts, who not only were able to view Arthur's work but experienced an uplifting selection of improvisational performances by dancer Karen Montanaro.



Here is Karen in a pose that shows off her fabulous athletic grace and her amazing muscle tone. As guests mingled, checked out the selection of works, and enjoyed drinks and a delicious array of healthy appetizers (created by Arthur's wife, Aaiyn Foster of Foster Wellness, and Steven Quattrucci of Peaks Catering), we were periodically treated to Karen's impressive ability to interpret a range of different musical selections.



As you can see, her work was quite well received by the crowd. The case was the same for Arthur's images, which somehow manage to capture the movement and energy of dance in still photography.



Even though this was a party to celebrate his work, Arthur couldn't resist breaking out his own camera to capture what I'm sure are stunning photos of Karen in action.

His work is on view at the inn in Portland's West End through the end of the month. The inn, located at 163 Danforth Street (although you enter from the door on Winter Street), is open to the public daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

I'll have more details about the party and what guests had to say about the creativity on display in the Jan. 16 edition of the Maine Sunday Telegram. Look for my column and many more photos in the Scene & Heard society section.

Portland Magazine WinterGuide

Fun article in Portland Magazine's new issue on the possible "trend" of Maine professional owning and running businesses in both Bar Harbor and Portland. Michael Boland of Havana and Havana South, Linda of Mount Desert Island Ice Cream and I are quoted talkig about the "dynamic" of working both towns.

What I learned in 2010

The music business moves at a snail's pace, but when it finally moves...very cool.

Nothing can make me happier than a happy dog.

Good guys finish first.

It is much less lonely to be alone than to settle for anything less than what you deserve.

Take care of yourself and your self will take care of you.

Animals deserve the same kind of unconditional love that they give.

Good Advice for 2011 from a successful business owner

Hire a dream team. No one can be everywhere at once. You must have the right team in place to be successful in any business. I always try to hire the best. I look for an outstanding portfolio, a relentless work ethic, and an ambitious streak. Unfortunately, even if you screen thoroughly, you'll inevitably end up hiring some folks who just don't pull their weight. For the sake of your business, you must be willing to let those team members go. Ineffective employees will eventually drag down company morale and will sap company profits because of their lack of productivity.
