Cupcake Factory Director's Meeting

The latest meeting of the Cupcake Factory Board of Directors was held yesterday and the minutes will be forthcoming. The major decision of the day was that we will be using fresh ingredients, so fresh that we will be providing our own eggs. We will be working with Uncle John to adopt and love baby chicks who will grow quickly to provide us with the freshest eggs possible for our cupcake recipes.

Portland Alive and Well

So happy that we put this Portland property, Inn on Carleton under contract right away after listing. Good for Portland, good for Portland inns (yes I have a bit of an interest here) good for Maine!

Employee Name Tags

I forget when I get so busy and can't see our listings how much I love houses and architecture. Check out the spot for this amazing contemporary in Deer Isle. I loved it.

I left my camera in Boothbay with Bill yesterday because we were leaving before the windjammers started to arrive. Wish we would have stayed now...

Spent time in East Boothbay today. EVERY TIME I am down there, I want to spend the whole summer there. I miss the cottage we rented for years on Southport. Smugglers is looking fantastic!! Today is the beginning of the Windjammers arrival, we left too early but I have been promised pictures. Havana with Erica

LOVED LOVED LOVED delicous dinner with Erica at Havana, my birthday week present! what a treat!

Love the current menu, settled on Chile Rellano that was amazing! Of course Mark's mojito was the best ever!

Looking forward to going to one of the friends and family nights at Havana South in Portland before the big opening next week with Candace and a friend of hers. Going to be great!

Perfect Bday

First, Ava - sweet, sweet Ava - let Mommy sleep until almost 9 AM. That is wild! That is at least 3 hours longer than usual. But then Ev had a prom dress and shoe crisis so we had to address that. THEN Gam and Grampa made the giant flower delivery, see above Ava checking them out. THEN Gam vacuumed the floors (the only thing left that really hurts my back). THEN got a beautiful flower delivery from my wonderful Maineville biz partner and THEN worked and thanked FB friends for wishes. THEN went to Gam and Grampa's for supper and chased chipmunks and ate watermelon ice cream cake. Couldn't have scripted it any better.

Team Fundraiser

Brianne O'Donnell, Jim Kachmar and Alyssa Bouthot, Ava and I at the fundraiser. Our Committee was so great pulling in sponsorship for the wine and beer and pizza. Alyssa is my summer intern, working primarily on Maineville Music projects. Too fun.

Music at Danforth

I don't ever remember being quite so tired but what a fantastic night last night was at Danforth. Jason Spooner, Mike Abbott and Con Fullam - all treasured new friends of ours were amazing and Con brought along the amazing Joan Kennedy. What a night. So happy but so exhausted... We exceeded our fundraising goal of $1000 for the Nashville Humane Society. Can't wait for Aaron to present them the check.

Portland

The difference in my Bar Harbor life and Portland life is extreme. Portland is constant meetings, discussions, decisions and chaos. There is never enough time to get everything done.

One of the best parts though - dinner out. Catching up with friends over a great cocktail. One of the nights this week is going to be GNO. Girl's Night Out. The facebook and email discussion has been all over the place but I think we might have settled on Walter's. I haven't been since the new location opened so I am psyched!

Home Stretch....

My sister and brother-in-law and their broker (moi) are in the home stretch of closing on a gorgeous home on one of the stunning lakes outside Augusta. These pics were on a very dreary day this week but are still beautiful, which tells you something about the property.

What happened to NO?

I am actually trying to have a very serious conversation with Ava about why she has to leave the Mommy deer alone for a few minutes so that the Mommy deer can eat a lot of healthy greens so that she has good nutrition to feed her baby fawns so that we don't have to take care of them and she is hardly listening.... I am about to say, NO or STOP. I keep telling her to remember when she was a baby but she just cocks her head and barks louder..... I will say, the Mom looks so regal and very healthy and seems to be so far - so good on the mothering work.
